High on Fire

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

High on Fire, Pallbearer, Lucifer, Venomous Maximus @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
BV is presenting this show tonight, and we couldn’t be more excited. High on Fire are one of sludge metal’s most dependable bands and this year’s Luminiferous does nothing to change that. Pallbearer are last year’s doom MVPs, Lucifer is the new band of The Oath vocalist Johanna Sadonis, and Venomous Maximus are very promising bringers of occult doom.

Psychedelic Furs, The Church @ Irving Plaza
These two ’80s alternative icons are touring together and play NYC tonight. Is it too much to ask for a joint encore medley of “Love My (Under the Milky) Way”?

Todd Rundgren @ The Paramount
Hello, it’s Todd: pop chameleon, record producer and general eccentric Rundgren plays his second night at Highline this week, with minimal accompaniment from Dâm-Funk and two backup singers. Will you see the light?

Mac DeMarco, Delicate Steve @ Webster Hall
With a new mini-LP just out and more popular than ever, Mac DeMarco continues his sold-out four-show NYC run tonight.

Ringworm, White Widows Pact, Culture Killers, Jukal @ Acheron
The consistently-great metallic hardcore band Ringworm are revisiting the past for this tour and playing 2005’s Justice Replaced by Revenge in full for its 10th anniversary.

Abdu Ali, Leverage Models, ZGRT @ Baby’s All Right
Baltimore rapper Abdu Ali has no regard for the genre’s trends and boundaries, with music that pushes rap in weirdly exciting directions.

Tara Jane O’Neil, Samara Lubelski, Sapropelic Pycnic @ Union Pool
Tara Jane O’Neil appeared on the Karen Dalton tribute album earlier this year, and while Karen’s a pretty good reference point for Tara’s own music, TJO is much noisier and more psychedelic. This is her first of two NYC shows this week.

Cake Shop Comedy @ Cake Shop
If you miss Big Terrific and Hannibal Buress’ Sunday night show at Knit, and are looking for a new free, weekly comedy show that happens in a rock club and sometimes has big name talent stop by unexpectedly, “Cake Shop Comedy” might do the trick. (Aziz Ansari stopped by last week, and Louis CK the week before that.) 8 PM.

For all of tonight’s shows, and tomorrow’s, check out our NYC concert calendar.

For laughs, check out the NYC Comedy calendar too.
