Against Me

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Against Me!, Cakes Da Killa, Big Eyes @ Stone Pony (BV Presents)
The next BrooklynVegan-curated installment of Red Bull Sound Select is tonight and it happens in Asbury Park at the Stone Pony. Headlining is one of our favorite punk bands around, Against Me!, and before them it’s NYC queer rapper Cakes Da Killa and more punk from Big Eyes. It’s just $3 with RSVP but admission is first come, first served. Hope to see you there!

AJ Davila y Terror Amor, The Teen Age @ Elvis Guesthouse
Davila 666 frontman AJ Davila plays tonight with his other fearsome garagepunk band Terror Amor. His wild shows are a pretty safe bet for a good time and seeing him at tiny Elvis Guesthouse should be crazy.

Prince Rama, Giant Claw, Darren Keen, Macula Dog @ Palisades
New age mystics and spacey party-starters Prince Rama love to involve the crowd at their shows, be it with group dance or yoga meditations. You never know exactly what’s going to happen, but it’s rarely dull.

Xylouris White, Luluc @ Union Pool
Xylouris White is the duo of Dirty Three’s Jim White and Cretan folk musician George Xylouris. Their debut album, Goats, mixes Xylouris’ traditional lute style and White’s avant leanings, making for a very interesting listen that is all the more captivating live. Their two-night stand at Union Pool concludes tonight.

Clark, Heathered Pearls, Lord Raja, Logan Takahashi, Safer At Night @ Good Room
It’s the first of two NYC shows this weekend for Clark, who’s been making consistently great IDM for over a decade. His most recent album is last year’s self-titled LP on Warp.

Old Man Gloom, Mare @ Saint Vitus
Old Man Gloom have members of Converge, Cave In and Isis, and they’re riding high off last year’s The Ape of God which was one of the better metal albums of 2014. They’re on tour with the reunited sludge band Mare, and tonight concludes their sold-out two-night stay at Saint Vitus.

Mick Jenkins, STWO @ Highline Ballroom
Chicago rapper Mick Jenkins continues to pick up more and more buzz, and tonight he comes to NYC for a pretty big show at HIghline Ballroom.

Revocation, Cannabis Corpse, Archspire, Black Fast, Sicada @ The Studio at Webster Hall
It’s a night of metal at the Studio at Webster Hall, led by the tech-y Revocation and the weed-loving Cannabis Corpse.

Aziz Ansari, Amy Schumer, Anthony Jeselnik, Jay Pharaoh, Jeff Ross, Jim Norton, Michael Che, Nick Kroll, Todd Barry @ Jones Beach (Oddball)
The annual Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival puts some of the best comedians of the moment together for a huge tour, and tonight’s the first NYC-area stop. Aziz Ansari and Amy Schumer were both on the 2014 tour, but there’s no denying their careers got major boosts in the past year, so it’s exciting to see this time they’re back as co-headliners. The rest of the lineup ain’t too shabby either.

Electric Zoo @ Randall’s Island
The three-day EDM fest Electric Zoo returns to NYC this weekend. It’s mostly the kinds of big names you usually se at these types of festivals, but today also has some cool stuff like The Chemical Brothers, Cashmere Cat, The Martinez Brothers and Wave Racer.

Sediment Club, Ava Mendoza’s Unnatural Ways, Cellular Chaos, Reina Terror @ Trans-Pecos
Trans-Pecos has a good lineup tonight (as usual) with no wavers Sediment Club, experimental guitarist Ava Mendoza and more.
