Some of you may remember arty NYC band Inouk who were around in the early/mid ’00s and were fronted by brothers Alexander and Damon McMahon. When the band called it quits, Damon went solo as Amen Dunes and Alexander struggled with a few demons. Having made it through the other side, Alexander now makes music as Xander Duell and released Experimental Tape No 2, Vol. 1 back in 2011. For his proper studio debut album, Wade Laiste (out now via Swedish label Ingrid), he brought in his brother Damon as producer and the record also features musical/studio contributions from Miike Snow frontman Andrew Wyatt. Bowie’s clearly an influence here but it has its own weird, off-kilter charms. You can stream the whole album, via Rdio, below.

Xander Duell will celebrate Wade Laiste‘s release tonight (9/24) at Elvis Guesthouse. It’s pretty great bill, especially given how small EG is, with TEEN, Luke Temple and White Bike also playing, and Prince Rama as DJs. Tickets are on sale and flyer for the show is below.
