A Sunny Day in Glasgow visit a NJ pro wresting club in "Hey, You're Mine" video (watch)

Fun fact: Jen Goma of A Sunny Day in Glasgow is a huge wrestling fan. It’s true. It’s a subject she explores in the video for ASDIG’s “Hey, You’re Mine” which she directed and is off the band’s new double-EP, Planning Weed Like Its Acid/Life is Loss. With help from filmmakers Ty Flowers and Jon Cooper, Jen visited the OTW Pro Wrestling Club in Williamstown, New Jersey for a verité style video that makes its premiere here. She told us:

I see wrestling as a kind of presentational theater that is a tradition but also a modern day vehicle for telling good stories. I wanted to make use of the metafictional techniques inherent in wrestling to tell a story about wrestling but also a broader story about people. For me, the key to a compelling story is the characters and wrestling characters are all about the people who play them.

A televised/live wresting show is not dissimilar from a series like The Office or Louie. Shooting this music video in a documentary-style allows us to do what wrestling does best– present truth as fiction and vice versa. The audience gets to decide how important either of those elements are to a good story.

Jen also says the video crew and the wrestlers all ended up at the same NJ bar later that night, adding “We sent them a dessert and they sent over some shots, I guess they won that round.” It’s a genuinely sweet glimpse into OTW’s world and fits well with the song’s optimistic feel.
