You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Hinds @ Palisades
Spanish band Hinds release their debut album this week and celebrate tonight with this show that will turn into a karaoke party afterwards. You need to RSVP to attend (and it’s $3 at the door).

“Brooklyn is Berning” @ Baby’s All Right
A cavalcade of talent comes out to support Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential bid at the two-night event. Tonight’s lineup features WET, Cass McCombs & The Chapin Sisters, Dee Dee of Dum Dum Girls, Mas Ysa and more.

Balance and Composure, Roger Harvey @ Saint Vitus
PA alt-rock/post-hardcore band Balance & Composure had been quiet for a while, but they recently played an intimate Brooklyn show and said new music is on the way. This week they play two more small gigs in BK, and both are opened by the indie folk-ish Roger Harvey.

Freedom, Forced Order, NYC Headhunters, Manipulate, Impact @ The Acheron
Detroit band Freedom make short, fast and heavy hardcore, most recently heard on 2015’s USA Hardcore.

Half Waif, Shana Falana, Fraternal Twin, Ajnubi @ Shea Stadium
Brooklyn’s Half Waif makes art pop that any fans of Austra or Sylvan Esso would probably dig, and making it a good double bill is Shana Falana, who make arena-sized dream pop with powerhouse vocals.

Justin Townes Earle @ City Winery
There’s a lot of the Earle family at City Winery this month. While he’s got some shows with his dad, Steve, as well, Justin Townes Earle goes it alone tonight.

Alan Licht Record Release w/ Zachary Cale, Mary Lattimore, Arian Shaifee (Guerilla Toss/VDSQ) @ Union Pool
Musician and sometimes journalist Alan Licht celebrates the release of his new album, Currents, which offers up acoustic guitar minimalism. He’s got a bunch of similarly-minded musicians to help out tonight.

Syd Straw @ HiFi
A talented singer-songwriter with deep roots in the NYC scene (she sang on the Golden Palominos’ Visions of Excess), Syd Straw is probably best known for her terrific 1989 solo debut, Surprise. She’s a great storyteller too, and a chance to see her in a very intimate setting such as this shouldn’t be missed.

For laughs, check out the NYC Comedy calendar too.
