new Netflix kids series 'Beat Bugs' features Beatles covers by The Shins, Eddie Vedder, Regina Spektor and more

Netflix has just announced they’ll be producing children’s series Beat Bugs which will feature 50+ Beatles songs covered by contemporary artists. The show, created by Australian Josh Wakely, focuses on the backyard adventures of five cute insects. Each 11-minute episode will tie in with the Beatles song that’s used in the episode. Artists doing covers include The Shins (“The Word”), Chris Cornell (“Drive My Car”), Regina Spektor (“And Your Bird Can Sing”), Of Monsters and Men (“Eleanor Rigby”), Sia (“Blackbird”) and more. This is not the first time The Beatles have been involved in a kids cartoon series — they had their own crudely animated series at the height of ’60s Beatlemania. Beat Bugs is set to premiere in August on Netflix.
