New Zealand group Doprah releasing debut LP (stream it)

doprah

New Zealand’s Doprah began as an online collaboration between Steven Marr and Indira Force, resulting in an acclaimed EP and a series of gorgeously-shot music videos. The group, who are now a sextet, get a lot of (accurate) comparisons to Bjork and Massive Attack (or Bjork fronting Massive Attack) and if the lush, alluring world that conjures interests you, the band’s upcoming debut LP, Wasting, deserves a place in your collection next to them (and Morcheeba, Zero 7, The xx, etc). The album is out Friday (2/19) via Arch Hill in North America (Flying Nun in New Zealand) and you can check out the whole thing right now — a stream of the album premieres in this post.

Doprah were last in NYC for CMJ 2014. No word on 2016 tour dates just yet. The band’s only upcoming date is a record release show in their home of Christchurch, NZ on March 3. Stay tuned for more dates.
