Odetta Hartman releasing '222' with remix collection (listen), playing NYC shows & SXSW

by Bill Pearis

Odetta Hartman

Brooklyn’s Odetta Hartman released the 222 cassette last fall via Northern Spy. It’s a hard-to-pidgeonhole mix of ethereal folk, rootsy rock, and glitchy electronics, all anchored by her powerful voice. Northern Spy just re-released it on CD and to celebrate she’s put out a companion remix collection, with the entire record radically reworked with help from Full Service and other talented folk. You can check that out in in full: a stream of 222 [THE FULL SERVICE REMIXES] makes its premiere in this post. Stream it, along with the original album, below

Odetta has a few local dates coming up: February 22 at Berlin for a Full Service party that’s also with Slow Roasters (more info); then February 28 at Baby’s All Right with Lucy Dacus (tickets); and Littlefield on March 11 as part of the “Festival of the Hunt” with Morgan O’kane, The Kicking Hills, Feral Foster, The Daydreamers, Greater Jones, 5 Mile String Band, and Ian Link (tickets).

She’ll also be heading to SXSW, for appearances including the Northern Spy Records showcase happening on March 18 with Shilpa Ray, PC Worship Yonatan Gat, String Noise, and Brooklyn Raga Massive.
