Fetty Wap, Post Malone, Monty @ Irving Plaza
Fetty Wap’s debut album spawned four charting singles and about twice as many could-be singles, but you already know this because you couldn’t leave your house last year without hearing them. Tonight’s the second of two Irving Plaza shows with frequent collaborator Monty and “White Iverson” rapper Post Malone.
Graveyard, Spiders @ Brooklyn Bowl
If you like your heavy rock riffage the way it sounded in the early ’70s, Graveyard have you covered. Related band Spiders make this a good double bill.
Benjamin Clementine @ Rough Trade
UK singer Benjamin Clementine won the Mercury Prize last year for his album At Least for Now that earned him a few “male Nina Simone” comparisons. Tonight’s the first of four NYC shows on his current run.
Giorgio Moroder, Thanksgiving Brown, Cranks @ Output
Giorgio Moroder’s influence on dance music can not be overstated — you can hear it in the Top 40 right now. Tonight he’ll spin many of his greatest hits which will certainly sound amazing out of Output’s killer soundsystem.
Ezra Furman, Nude Beach, Writer @ Bowery Ballroom
Furman’s a charismatic, charming performer and between the confessional, storytelling nature of many of his songs and folk-rock style, it’s all a little late-’80s Violent Femmes… yet there’s nobody else quite like him.
Paul Collins Beat, Bodega Bay, No Ice, Jackyl Onassis @ Berlin
Former Nerves songwriter and power pop godfather Paul Collins helped pioneer a jangly sound that’s still being imitated today.
Dawn of Midi @ The Kitchen
Dawn of Midi apply dance music techniques and rhythms to acoustic instruments, as can be heard on their acclaimed 2015 album, Dysnomia.
Rachel Grimes, Longleash @ Merkin Concert Hall
Part of the Ecstatic Music Festival, tonight Rachel Grimes (of Rachel’s) will collaborate with piano trio Longleash to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Rachel’s Music for Egon Schiele.
Mike Birbiglia @ The Lynn Redgrave Theater
Comedian Mike Birbiglia has been doing his show “Thank God for the Jokes” for nearly two years. He’s finally putting it to bed, but not before this six-week run.
