Last year, Kid Koala released the graphic novel Space Cadet and an accompanying score. He premiered the piece with a multimedia headphone concert and gallery in Europe and is now debuting it in the US with two NYC shows this April. If you'e wondering what the "headphone concert" will be like, a press release writes...
Space Cadet is a unique immersive headphone concert experience. The audience sits in inflatable "space pods", listening to the show through individual headphone systems as Kid Koala brings the Space Cadet score to life on a piano and several turntables. Part music, part storytelling, Kid Koala invites you into the world of the Space Cadet graphic novel in a show suitable for all ages. The NYC shows happen on April 3 and 4 at Irondale Center in Fort Greene. Before the show starts, a gallery will be open in the Biosphere with "Space Plant Sculpture installations, an interactive Music Spaceship Console, a Space Cadet Soundtrack Cassette Jukebox, and original etchboards from the Space Cadet book." Tickets for both shows are on sale now.
The flier for the shows, more info and trailer videos for both the headphone concert and the book are below...

The Electric Daisy Carnival, the dance music festival which drew over 250,000 attendees to its three-day Las Vegas event last year, will hit New York on May 19-20, 2012, at a soon-to-be-announced location....Uh oh. Electric Daisy Carnival is coming to NYC. No word on the lineup yet for NYC, or for their flagship event in Las Vegas on June 8th - 10th, or for the third third festival they're doing this year in Puerto Rico. 2011's events featured appearances from The Crystal Method, Skream, Rusko, Diplo, Skrillex, Bloody Beetroots, MSTRKRFT and many, many others (you get the idea).
"I'm really excited to be working with Pacha to bring our touring experience of Electric Daisy Carnival to New York," Pasquale Rotella, founder and CEO of Insomniac Events, told Billboard exclusively. "The entire Insomniac staff is looking forward to this upcoming EDC weekend on the East Coast." -[Billboard]
As you might know, much like the similarly themed HARD, EDC started in California (in 1997), but moved to Vegas last year. This NYC outing is their first venture to the East Coast.
With the announcement of EDC, NYC suddenly has a growing number festivals on our hands, many of which are electro-heavy, such as the similar Electric Zoo which happens on Randall's Island over Labor Day Weekend (pics from 2011), and the slightly more mixed Governors Ball which is now on Radall's Island too, and which is the same weekend as Orion in Atlantic City. Last summer also introduced Escape 2 NY to the Hamptons (which is planning to return). Hopefully these new fests fare better than 2011 Hamptons non-fest Music To Know.
Check out a video trailer from the Las Vegas show below.

If I were throwing a rave in Brooklyn, Grand Prospect Hall (you know, the place where all your dreams will come true), would definitely be my first venue choice. The place is amazing for so many reasons. Unfortunately though, despite what Drop the Lime's own website says, they are not playing there tonight (2/19).
What Drop the Lime are actually playing, along with Star Eyes, Jubilee, Soulslinger, Vinny From the Bronx (I just like his name), and MANY other artists, in addition to a "video Game Truck featuring every video game and system imaginable", a "Moon Bounce decorated with UV paintings and crazy lights", and "Free Fresh Fruit by NYCR", is Glow Naughty Neon 2 which is taking place at The Cultural Performing Arts Center of Brooklyn (1020 E 48TH ST). 8pm-4am. "16 to glow, 21 to get naughty."
Drop the Lime are also on the lineup of Filter's SXSW events this year (along with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, YACHT, Miike Snow, and many more).
