Fiery Furnaces

are Fiery Furnaces teasing a return? (update: yes!)

The Fiery Furnaces haven’t released an album since 2009 and they haven’t played a show since 2011, but it looks like they might finally be up to something for the first time in nine years. They updated all their social media with the above photo that says “The Fiery Furnaces Forever.” What could it all mean?? Stay tuned.

UPDATE: Yep, they’re back. They’ll play the 2020 Pitchfork Festival (their only announced show so far).

In the time since Fiery Furnaces went on hiatus, Eleanor Friedberger has been a very active solo artist and she’ll be beginning a tour with Destroyer this week and also opening part of Angel Olsen’s tour this year (including the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival show in Prospect Park on July 22 with Mount Eerie). Matthew Friedberger also did some solo work and formed the band Saqqara Mastabas with Sebadoh’s Bob D’Amico.
