Asbury Lanes initial reopening schedule (Thursday, Kurt Vile, Phoebe Bridgers, Ted Leo, more)

As recently mentioned, Asbury Lanes is reopening and will now be booked by Bowery Presents, after closing for renovations in 2015. The initial lineup of Asbury Lanes shows has been revealed, and in addition to the Sparta show that we mentioned this morning, it includes two nights of full-album shows by the reunited Thursday, plus Kurt Vile and the Violators, Tennis, Lupe Fiasco, Black Lips, Tyler Childers, Phoebe Bridgers, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists and Allah-Las. More info and tickets HERE. Full lineup on the poster below.

As Billboard reports:

The renewed space will allow for more than double its original capacity of 300, and one entrance has been increased to three. Plus, the venue will boast state-of-the-art bowling facilities that include an exclusive new pin-setting system. The renovations were handled by Anda Andrei, the creative lead for the entire Asbury Park redevelopment project, and architect Dominic Kozerski of New York’s bonetti/kozerski. “There’s no flash,” Andrei said in the press release. “No one wants it too polished. This is a meaningful building.” She added that the space will still be the “fun, open and wild Lanes everyone loves, except we won’t have to worry that it might cave in.”

The Thursday shows happen August 23 and 24, and they’re playing Full Collapse at night one and War All The Time at night two. These will be the NJ band’s only home state shows this year. They’re also playing those same albums in full across four nights at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg during holiday season.

For Phoebe Bridgers, the Asbury Lanes show announcement is in addition to a couple of other area shows she has coming up: XpoNential Fest in Camden, NJ, and The National’s “There’s No Leaving New York” fest at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens. Phoebe also plays the sold out Newport Folk Festival (which Tyler Childers also plays).

Kurt Vile and The Violators play another NJ show at White Eagle Hall four days after Asbury Lanes, both on their way to Mountain Jam. The Asbury Lanes show will be opened by Goat Girl, who just released their very good debut album.

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists’ show comes after their Hearts of Oak 15th anniversary tour. Their Lanes show will be opened by Frankie Rose.
