Asbury Park Music in Film Fest schedule includes 'Miles Ahead,' new Frank Zappa doc & more

The Asbury Park Music in Film Festival, which runs on April 8-10, features stuff of interest both to film and music people. The opening night film will be Don Cheadle’s Miles Davis biopic Miles Ahead, which screened at SXSW and has already garnered some positive reviews. The kick-off happens on April 8 at the Paramount Theater and will feature a Q&A with Cheadle after the movie.

The festival as a whole rests at the intersection of music and film, with screenings of music-related films as well as performances and conversations being held at various venues throughout the weekend. There’s a new Frank Zappa doc called Eat That Question that was at Sundance, and some screenings of older music docs like It Might Get Loud, Grateful Dawg, and Muscle Shoals.

There are also performances by people like Colin Hay, Nicole Atkins, Glimmer Grass Band, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Project Object and many more.
