Asphalt Orchestra to cover the Pixies as a support act for the Pixies’ Capitol Theatre & NJPAC shows

Pixies in Northampton earlier this week (more by Dana (distrotion) Yavin)

You may know that Bang On A Can’s marching band Asphalt Orchestra often covers the Pixies and just celebrated the 25th anniversary of their 1988 album Surfer Rosa by performing it in full at Le Poisson Rouge last Sunday (1/12), and they’re now taking the Pixies love one step further. Asphalt Orchestra will actually open for the Pixies on the Capitol Theatre (1/19) and NJPAC (1/21) stops on their ongoing tour. That means you’ll hear marching band versions of the Pixies songs before hearing the actual Pixies songs. The Cap show appear sold out, but tickets for the NJ show (which also has FIDLAR on the bill) are still available.
