Brooklyn 17-piece disco orchestra Escort returned this week with the new single "Barbarians," and if you've been digging the new Daft Punk album, this single takes its inspiration from a very similar place. Check it out below.

As mentioned, Escort play a hometown show TONIGHT (5/24) at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Support at tonight's show comes from Lady Miss Kier (DJ), Tippy Toes, Leverage Models, and JKriv (DJ). Tickets for tonight's show are still available.

With little more than keyboards, drums and her powerful pipes, Brooklyn's Xenia Rubinos has forged her own sound which can be heard on her new album, Magic Trix, which is out now on Ba Da Bing. You can stream a few songs from the album and check out a couple videos below.

As mentioned, Xenia is playing Brooklyn Museum's 'Audiophile' series on August 15. It's one of a bunch of local shows she has scheduled this summer. She's also got two dates with Sinkane: June 14 at Brooklyn Bowl as part of Northside Fest (tickets) and June 16 at Maxwell's (tickets).

She's also playing 285 Kent on July 11, and then a Summer Splash Concert Cruise on August 12 with Los Amigos Invisibles (tickets). She's got a few non-NYC dates too, and all are listed below.

Paul McCartney @ Frank Erwin Center, Austin, 5/23/2013

Paul McCartney's Out There tour just swept through Austin with a two-night stand at the Frank Erwin Center and we've got pictures (and setlists) of the pyrotechnic/av/hit-filled extravaganza over at BV Austin.

The former Beatle plays two nights at Barclays Center in a couple weeks and while  the June 8 show appears to be sold out, tickets are still available for June 10.

In other news, McCartney has joined the growing list of musicians supporting the release of incarcerated Pussy Riot member Maria Alyokhina who is currently on a hunger strike. He wrote a letter to Russian officials, saying:

My personal belief is that further incarceration for Maria will be harmful for her and the situation as a whole, which, of course, is being watched by people all over the world. In the great tradition of fair-mindedness which the Russian people (many of whom are my friends) are famous for, I believe that you granting this request would send a very positive message to all the people who have followed this case.

NYC festival Governors Ball is totally sold out of regular tickets, but if you weren't able to get yours and still want to go, there are still a few options. From now until Monday (5/27) at 11:59 PM, you can enter the Governors Ball Ticket Lottery. Delicate Steve was among the performers scheduled to play GoogaMooga on Sunday that didn't end up happening on account of rain. For those who were especially looking forward to his appearance and don't mind waiting a while longer, Delicate Steve will play NYC at Glasslands on September 6. The rest of the bill is still TBA but tickets are on sale now. Steve also recently provided music for a drawn-on-film animated short called "Tallest Heights and you can watch that below.

Delicate Steve's only other 2013 date is part of the snowboard community-related Friendly Gathering Festival which happens in Windham, VT on June 28 & 29 and also features, Assembly of Dust, Rubblebucket and others. Full line-up is below.

It's been a while since we've heard from The Decemberists, but the band's members are still finding ways to keep busy. Their side project, Black Prairie, whose lineup now includes four of the five Decemberists members (Chris Funk, Nate Query, Jenny Conlee, and John Moen -- aka everyone except Colin Meloy), released a new album this year which is a "soundtrack" for New York Times magazine writer Jon Mooallem's book, Wild Ones. You can stream that album in its entirety below, and read what Jon Mooallem had to say about it at Slate.

Black Prairie are also going on a tour which includes previously discussed stops at Bonnaroo and Newport Folk Festival. The tour hits NYC for a show with Michael Hurley at City Winery on July 29, the day after they play Newport Folk Festival. Tickets for that show are on sale now.

Colin Meloy plays Newport Folk Fest too, so if he and his bandmates don't team up for at least one Decemberists song, that's just cruel and unusual. It's one of three solo shows Colin has scheduled (all festivals, none in NYC). All upcoming Black Prairie and Colin Meloy dates are listed below.

Finally, as mentioned, John Moen is releasing a new solo album, Revise Your Maps, on June 25 via Jealous Butcher Records. We already posted the song "Ramble Scramble" from that album, and John just released the album's title track, which you can stream below (via Billboard).

Indie bands have been mainstays of the late night talk show circuit for years now, but they're starting to infiltrate morning shows too. Case in point: Grizzly Bear just played Ellen this morning (5/24), which most certainly introduced their music to a new audience. (Yesterday, Michael Bolton was the musical guest.) As mentioned, punk/indie pop trio Lemuria are releasing their new album, The Distance Is So Big, on June 18 via Bridge Nine, and they're currently on a tour ahead of its release. That tour hits the NYC-area twice this weekend, including shows TONIGHT (5/24) at Maxwell's and Saturday (5/25) at Shea Stadium with Bridge and Tunnel, Jeff Rosenstock (of Bomb the Music Industry), and ex-Snowing frontman John Galm's excellent new garage punk band, Slow Warm Death (who we just profiled). Advance tickets for the Maxwell's show and the Shea show are still available.

We've still got a few weeks before Lemuria's new album hits shelves (or iTunes libraries), but they did reveal a taste of it with the album's lead single, "Brilliant Dancer." That single was released digitally and on vinyl this week, and the band are also selling copies on tour. The single comes with an exclusive non-album b-side, "Helloing," which is just as good as any of the standouts on The Distance Is So Big and not just some throwaway track. Bolt Thrower at MDF 2013

Maryland Deathfest 2013 kicked off yesterday (5/23) with a rare appearance from the legendary death metal band Bolt Thrower (on tour), along with Cobalt (also on tour, recently interviewed on IO on EVR), Japan's Abigail (part of a string of dates), Pallbearer, and local thrash favorites Noisem. The single stage event expands to four today, keep up with it all on the InvisibleOranges Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Impresario Peter Shapiro -- owner of Brooklyn Bowl in Williamsburg and the former boss of Wetlands in Tribeca -- has picked a quiet pocket in the industrial neighborhood of Gowanus for a new "child-friendly" venture.
The 40-year-old father of two is turning an empty warehouse at 280 Bond St. into The Rock and Roll Playhouse, housing classes for the day-care crowd, a bar and a live-music theater...

...The Playhouse, slated to open this winter, will teach tots about music during the days in classes such as "Beatles for Babies," and "Drawing Rock and Roll," according to the project's website. - [NY Daily News]

UK duo Prinzhorn Dance School make their U.S. live debut at Shea Stadium tonight, opening for YACHT. Tickets are still available. They'll both play tomorrow at the sold out DFA Records 12th Anniversary Party.

Memorial Day Weekend marks the start of the summer movie season, and this week's blockbusters include Fast & Furious 6, The Hangover Part III and animated flick, Epic. On the smaller side, there's Before Midnight, the third in Richard Linklater's indie romance series with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy; and Greta Gerwig in Noah Baumbach's Frances Ha.

Julio Bashmore

Bristol, UK house producer Julio Bashmore has released some singles and EPs over the past few years, like "Au Seve," the first release on his own Boardwalk label, and earlier this year he provided the dancefloor-ready beat to Jessie Ware's "Imagine It Was Us" single (and some of her Devotion LP). He also released a collaborative single with Kowton called "Mirror Song" this month via Boardwalk, which was backed by Kowton's new track, "And What?." You can check out the video for "Mirror Song" and a stream of "And What?" below.

Julio is set to come to North America for a tour here this August. That tour includes his opening slot at the previously discussed Disclosure/TNGHT co-headlining show at Central Park Summerstage on August 6 (tickets), and his appearance at the just-announced Warm Up summer series at MoMA PS1. Julio plays Warm Up on August 10 with Detroit techno vets Octave One (live), Hyetal, and DJ Dodger Stadium (aka Jerome LOL and Samo Sound Boy). Tickets for all Warm Up shows go on sale June 5 at noon.

Hyetal, who also hails from Bristol, makes UK-style dubstep under his own name, and is also part of the duo Velour with Julio Bashmore. Earlier this year, Velour released the dancey single "Speedway" b/w "Dial," which you can stream both tracks from below. Hyetal's new solo album, Modern Worship, comes out on June 4 via True Panther, and you can stream two tracks from that album below too. His appearance at Warm Up is his only currently announced North American date.

Sweden's favorite Satan-loving rockers Ghost B.C., who recently toured North America in support of their new album, Infestissumam, released one of that album's Japan-only bonus tracks onto the internet this week. The bonus track is a very Ghost-ian cover of Depeche Mode's "Waiting For The Night" from their Violator album. It's not the first time Ghost covered an entirely non-metal song.
