Austin trio Grivo prep debut LP (listen to the heavy/shoegaze-y “C.A.”)
Austin trio Grivo make rock that is both heavy and ethereal, with a healthy dose of magisterial grandeur. Originally started by singer/guitarist Timothy Heck and his brother, Matthew, on drums, Grivo self-released an EP in 2015 and have rounded out the group with bassist Ricardo Tejeda. Their debut album, Elude, is out November 16 via Holodeck (who have released records by S U R V I V E, This Will Destroy You, and more). “C.A.” is a perfect example of what Grivo do: thick with atmosphere that is both beautiful and menacing, with nice use of keyboards to make the chorus really soar. The song premieres in this post and you can stream it below.
Grivo will play a record release show at Austin’s Hotel Vegas on November 23. It’s currently the only show on their schedule.
