Austin venue The Parish being auctioned on eBay this week
The Parish, one of the many venues located on Austin’s famously busy 6th Street, is being put up for auction on eBay this Friday (12/1) at noon Central. The auction will be linked from the venue’s website and Facebook page. It starts at $1 and will last for ten days. Here’s more via press release:
The Parish is widely regarded as one of the best indoor live music venues of its size in Austin and throughout Texas, offering the highest quality production for artists and private events alike with its top-of-the-line sound system. Located within the popular 6th Street District in the heart of downtown Austin at 214 E. 6th Street, the venue boasts over 5,300 sq. ft. on the second floor of a historic, yet highly-preserved building with a total venue capacity of over 425 guests.
“Although selling The Parish was a hard decision to make, I am excited about the future and to see what change new owners can bring to both the venue and Austin’s beloved live music landscape,” says Doug Guller, CEO of ATX Brands. “From a live music perspective, nothing has ever been sold this way in Austin. With a starting bid of just $1, I wanted to offer a fair playing field from the start for music-lovers of all types to own a piece of true music history in the Live Music Capital of the World.”
The new ownership team will be able to take part in a variety of the award-winning amenities and features currently on site, including in-house lighting and production capabilities, two large bars, two spacious green rooms, a private office, in-house furniture and fixtures, ample storage, HD projector and screen, central HVAC, and more. Additionally, there is an option to include the current TABC license, with renewal in early 2018.
Guller also owned Austin’s Scoot Inn until it was acquired by C3 Presents earlier this year (home of one of the first BrooklynVegan SXSW shows in 2007).
We’ve seen tons of great shows at The Parish over the years, both during SXSW and otherwise, including Eleanor Friedberger, Captain Murphy, Menomena, Zola Jesus, Wye Oak, Los Campesinos!, The Magnetic Fields, and plenty of others.
