Dave Foley and Marc Maron in 'Maron'

As mentioned on BV, comedian and podcast host Marc Maron is set to make the leap to TV with his new IFC series, Maron, which debuts on May 3. Before that happens, Maron will be in Austin for Moontower Comedy & Oddity Fest (April 24 - 27), appearing at four different events.
Firstly, he'll be doing standup as part of his "Out of the Garage" tour on 4/25 at Stateside at the Paramount. Then he'll be part of a discussion called "Four Eyes" with bespectacled comedians Andy Kindler, The Lucas Brothers, and Dom "Father Guido Sarducci" Irera on 4/25 at The Parish. Then there's an advance screening of 'Maron' the same day (4/25) at Stateside at the Paramount.
And finally, Maron will be doing a live taping of his WTF podcast on 4/26 at Stateside at the Paramount with guests Bill Burr, Jim Norton, Dom Irrera, Janeane Garofalo, Michael Ian Black, Maria Bamford, Todd Barry and more. All these events require a Moontower fest badge to get in (which are still available).
Check out a couple 30-second previews of Maron below.

Dave Hill enjoying a Def Leppard concert 7/11/2012 (via @mrdavehill)

Dave Hill is a lot of things: comedian, band member, TV host. Add to that book author. Dave Hill's very funny new tome, Tasteful Nudes, is out now and is the perfect book to read since you finally finished A Dance With Dragons and Fifty Shades of Grey. Here's a little more about it from the man himself:
Hi. My name is Dave, and this is my very first collection of essays. As you can probably imagine, it pretty much has everything. In fact, if you like stories about stolen meat, animal attacks, young love, death, naked people, clergymen, rock 'n' roll, irritable Canadians, and prison, you have just hit a street called Easy because my book talks about all that stuff and a bunch of other stuff, too.Dave, most recently seen shirtless at a Def Leppard concert in New Jersey, will be hawking his new book and reading from it and signing things at Austin's Book People on Saturday, July 14 at 7PM. Do stop by.

Reggie Watts getting his picture taken @ SXSW (photo by jesshallett)

Speaking of handsome comedians that were at SXSW and also ROCK, the great Reggie Watts just announced a tour that brings the afro'd one back to Austin on May 26 at Scottish Rite Theater. Tickets are on sale.
Reggie Watts is also on the just-announced lineup of comedians that will be at Bonnaroo this year. Others are Aziz Ansari, Steven Wright, Marc Maron, Brian Posehn, Judah Freidlander, Rhys Darby, Colin Hay, Garfunkle & Oats, Amy Schumer, Pete Holmes, Rory Scovel, Mike O' Connell, Ali Wong, and Kyle Kinane.
Some of those other comedians were also at SXSW, and some will be in Austin in April for Moontower.

Who caught Tenacious D at SXSW this year? With everything else going on, we definitely didn't, so I was happy to notice that the D, aka rocking, musical-comedy duo Jack Black and Kyle Gass, will return to Austin as part of their growing summer tour on July 19th at Austin Music Hall. Tickets are on sale now.
The new shows are in support of their new album Rize Of The Fenix, which is out May 15th, and pictured above.
