Akron/Family @ Old Emo's

Akron/Family, who release a new album on April 30, were one of the many big bands who played Main Stage of the BrooklynVegan Friday Day Party at old Emo's during SXSW, and they were magnificent. Some more pictures from their set are in this post.

If you missed them, look for the band on the road in April, two nights back in Texas included: 05/03/13 @ Red 7 in Austin AND 05/04/13 @ Club Dada in Dallas. Rick Alverson's new film, The Comedy, which stars Tim Heidecker, Eric Wareheim, James Murphy, Gregg Turkington (aka Neil Hamburger), which we presented a screening of in NYC is opening in Austin theatres tonight (11/30) at Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar. Rick Alverson and Tim Heidecker will be there in person at the 10 PM screening. Tickets for that screening are available, but we're also giving away a pair. Additionally, we're giving a signed copy of the soundtrack on vinyl, which features Bill Fay, William Basinski, Gardens & Villa, Gayngs, and more. Questlove plays Beauty Ballroom on 10/13/2012

On Saturday night during ACL (10/13) ?Uestlove will be in Austin DJing at The Beauty Ballroom on a KnuckleRumbler bill that includes DJ Chorizo Funk and Riders Against The Storm. There's a rumor of a special guest, but why Leak Lamp Girls early?

Dan Deacon & a few friends @ FFF 2011 (more on BVAustin Facebook)

As we mentioned back in July, Dan Deacon is touring the world to support his latest LP, America, and will be playing Houston at Fitzgerald's on Wednesday (10/10) and coming to Austin one day later for a Thursday night show at The Beauty Ballroom (10/11). ACL kicks off Friday, but Dan wont be around as he will already be headed to Dallas. This will be the last chance to see him locally in 2012.

Dan is also featured in Philip Glass' REWORK_Philip Glass Remixed on NPR's First Listen now.

Tickets to the Austin show are still available, and we have a pair you can win for the show too.
