It's entirely possible that the musicians on PC Music aren't purposely critiquing our culture. There's an enigmatic nature to the label that makes it easy to overanalyse without having a specific voice to speak for the music. In an industry where everyone's trying to keep it 'real', it's ironically refreshing to have a label embracing some of the critiques of this generation.A.G. Cook's label PC Music will be putting on a SXSW showcase on Thursday, March 19 at Empire Garage with their artists Hannah Diamond, GFOTY, QT, Danny L Harle, Spinee, easyFun and Cook himself, plus affiliates SOPHIE, Felicita and Kane West. It runs from 8 PM to 2 AM, and badges will be accepted.
While I've tried to answer the question of 'what is PC Music?', I fear i've only further confused myself. Such is the intrigue of the label. The best way to discover it, is to listen to it. On first attempt, you'll most likely hate but like a sugar-addiction it will grow on you. Before you know it, you'll be asking "Please sir, can I have some more?" [TheInterns.net]
In conjunction with the announcement, A.G. Cook and Hannah Diamond released a new song, "Drop FM," which you can listen to below...

Pet Shop Boys @ ACL 4/16/2014
In some ways it played like an extended 1980s music video shoot backed by a packed house of hand-clapping, whistling and, yes, back-up dancers. All those chairs? Suddenly irrelevant. In between Coachella weekends, The Pet Shop Boys swung their Electric tour over to Texas, playing Dallas on April 15 (see review above) and Austin's ACL Live at the Moody Theatre on April 16. The costume and AV-overloaded extravaganza provided most of PSB's biggest hits, including "Rent," "Opportunities," "It's a Sin" and "West End Girls." Setlist and more pics from their ACL show below...
Tennant and Lowe could likely play anywhere and draw a reverent, diverse crowd -- they've avoided fading into obscurity by releasing fresh, thoughtful pop records every few years since their chart-topping '80s heyday. And while sharply dressed, slurry attendees on Tuesday certainly went their wildest during "West End Girls," "It's a Sin" and the strangely affecting dance version of "Always on My Mind," newer material (including opener "Axis" from 2013's Electric) fit well into the mix. - [Dallas News]

Kelis / Jungle @ Hype Hotel - 3/14/14
On the Friday night (3/14) of SXSW, Hype Hotel hosted a dancey show with UK producer Tourist, TDE-signed R&B singer SZA, enigmatic UK funk collective Jungle, German producer Tensnake, and the once-milkshakin', now "indie" Kelis. There was an hour long wait for Kelis, like there was a day earlier at Clive Bar, but this time it was apparently because Cyril Hahn was supposed to play beforehand but cancelled his set. Pictures of the show are in this post, and they continue below...

Austin synth duo Bronze Whale recently put out their first track of 2014, a remix of Marshall Lewis' "Chapters." The original is a polished folk song, and hardly a trace of it remains on Bronze Whale's edit, which toys with the vocals, adds in glitchy beats, and eventually erupts into a full-on dancefloor banger. Check it out below.
Bronze Whale will team up with two fellow Austin artists, gothy synth crew S U R V I V E and many-member chamber pop collective Mother Falcon, for the BrooklynVegan/BV Austin-curated portion of the Flatstock stage inside the Austin Convention Center during SXSW on Saturday, March 15 from 4 PM - 6 PM.
