Caspian in NY 2010 (more by Jen Maler)
Massachusetts post-rock band Caspian played a tribute show last weekend in honor of bassist Chris Friedrich, who sadly passed last week. Moving forward, they have announced plans for a fall tour with co-headliner 65daysofstatic and The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die. The tour hits Austin on November 19 at Red 7 and Dallas on November 20 at Club Dada. Tickets for the Dallas go on sale Friday (9/6) at 11 AM. Keep checking Red 7's site for updates on the Austin show.

Get ready world...GWAR is coming!"[GWAR]In anticipation of their September 17 release for their 13th studio album, Battle Maximus, heavy metal overlords GWAR are descending upon North America for the first leg of their "Madness at the Core of Time" world tour with Whitechapel, Iron Reagan, and Band of Orcs. That tour includes a show in Houston on October 24 at Warehouse Live and a show in Austin on October 26 at Emo's for Housecore Horror Film Fest. Wristbands for the festival are one sale now. Tickets for Houston go on sale Friday (8/2) at 12 PM.

Orange Goblin will bring their doom riffs back to the US this fall, part of a string of North American dates with Holy Grail and Lazer/Wulf. The six-week-plus long journey include Texas stops in triplicate: 9/28 at Red 7 in Austin (tickets go on sale 7/30 at 11PM), 9/29 at Fitzgerald's in Houston (tickets are on sale), 9/30 at Club Dada in Dallas (tickets are on sale).

As discussed at BrooklynVegan, Monster Magnet are putting their nostalgia trips behind them with a new record and resulting North American tour. The dates will be the band's first tour of the US in 10 years, and kindly include a trio of dates in Texas: 12/2 at Red 7 in Austin (ticketing info on the way), 12/3 at Fitzgeralds in Houston (ditto), and 12/4 at Trees in Dallas (them too).

Primitive Man, the Colorado band that features members of Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire, will take their depressive, primal sludge-doom out on the road with Reproacher, part of a larger tour. The dates celebrate both Primitive Man's impeding re-release of their Scorn LP for Relapse, as well as the release of Reproacher's new LP (released on 6/11) and include a stop at Beerland on Tuesday (7/16 with The Dead See and Cross Builder. The band also plays tonight (7/15) in San Antonio at Korova.

BrooklynVegan has the scoop on the Melvins' 30 year anniversary tour, one that will swing the band from coast to coast and including three stops in TX. Those include Austin for a date at Mohawk on August 9 with Honky. Tickets are on sale. If you go, make sure and take the advice of Invisible Oranges by sticking around after the Melvins bid adieu; Lord Dying is on board to play Mohawk on August 9 too, as part of a Melvins after-party with Howl.

Exhumed at California Discord Fest, 2011 (more by Fred Pessaro)
Exhumed will join Dying Fetus, Devourment, Abiotic and Waking the Cadaver for a pus-infested night of death metal in three separate Texas venues, part of an overall US campaign, including Austin on October 10 at Red 7 (tickets). That date is between the two other TX shows: October 9 at Fitzgerald's in Houston (tickets)and October 11 at Trees in Dallas (tickets).
The shows are in support of Exhumed's forthcoming LP Necrocracy, due on August 6 via Relapse Records. Stream the new track "Coins Upon The Eyes" below.

As discussed at InvisibleOranges, BV and IO are proud to sponsor the Weedeater North American tour which stretches from Canada to the Southwest this summer. The band recently toured the Northeast, tagging Brooklyn at Saint Vitus and Maryland Deathfest. The dates include four stops in Texas, including Austin on July 3 at Red 7 with ASG. Tickets on sale now.
The other shows in the state include July 1 at Fitzgerald's in Houston (tickets); July 2 at Korova in San Antonio ($10 at the door); and July 4 at Rubber Gloves in Denton (free for 21+ and $6 for minors). All dates are listed at Invisible Oranges.

As mentioned on BV, Noise-metal trio KEN Mode have added more dates for this summer, snagging alternating support from from Inter Arma and Rosetta along the way. The dates include three stops in Texas, including Austin at Mohawk on July 25 with Inter Arma & Pushmen (ticketing details are on the way).
Additionally, KEN Mode and Inter Arma play San Antonio at Limelight on July 26, and Houston at Mangos on July 27, neither of which seem to have advance tickets. Invisible Oranges and Brooklyn Vegan are proud sponsors of the tour, details of which are available at InvisibleOranges.
