Dana Falconberry @ Frontier Bar - 9/9/2012

Dana Falconberry's new album, Leelanau, is coming out on October 9. As we mentioned previously, the release party is this week at The Scottish Rite Theater on Thursday (10/4). KUT and BVAustin will be presenting the show and tickets are available now.

She'll be accompanied for the performance by the Tosca String Quartet and Elaine Barber on harp, with special guests Marmalakes and Good Field.

After the party she'll be headed up to Dallas, hitting the road with My Jerusalem through the first half of October. Besides both being from Austin, the two bands have more in common: My Jerusalem's album Preachers also comes out October 9.

The second half of the month has her touring with fellow Austinites Heartless Bastards, as well as Futurebirds (who are from R.E.M.'s hometown of Athens, GA).

Back in early September Lucy The Poodle presented a free show featuring Dana at Frontier Bar with Silver Ships, Eliza Rickman, and Technicolor Hearts (who will be at CMJ this year with BVAustin for The Texas Takeover Party). Unpublished pictures from the Frontier Bar show are in this post.

Houston's The Tontons (Adam Martinez, Asli Omar, Justin Martinez, and Tom Nguyen) have been making some waves recently ahead of their Pop Montreal appearances later this month, and have just released a video for "Golden" off of their latest EP (which you can stream here).

(Houston, TX) Houston-based indie rockers The Tontons are pleased to announce the release of their new music video for "Golden" from their most recently released EP, Golden. MTV's Buzzworthy blog raved about "Golden" making comparisons to Metric and front woman Emily Haines while Austin's NPR affiliate KUT deemed it "Song Of The Day". Upon hearing the MTV news, rap legend Bun B announced The Tontons as the "Best Band In Houston" to his 550k+ Twitter followers. Extremely grateful for the recent recognition, The Tontons are stoked to share with the world the visual that accompanies "Golden". Written and directed by Tom Adams and Tom Nguyen.

DOWNLOAD: Residual Kid - "Friend" (MP3)

Residual Kid @ Frontier Bar - 8/18/2012

Austin's Residual Kid (who we covered a few weeks back at Frontier Bar) just released an MP3 (download above) and video (watch below) for their song 'Friend'. Their EP Faces is set for release on October 9 which is three days after they play North Door to celebrate its arrival.

You don't need to wait that long to see them though. Their next Austin appearance is on September 18 at Stubb's. They'll be on the inside stage after Devo and Blondie's show outside. You can also catch them at Fun Fun Fun Fest in November.
