Like every year, Spider House has an absolutely packed schedule of showcases during this year's SXSW. With at least 11 events happening over the course of 6 days from March 16-21, there's absolutely something for everyone. Most of them are free with RSVP.
The week of festivities kicks off on March 16 with the all-day, all-night "Freaks Meet Folks Fest" that boasts 3 stages, 35 bands, comedy and art installations spread across the 12 hours from 2 PM to 2 AM. BUHU, Boyfrndz, Juan Waters, Homeshake, Water Liars and Meatbodies are just a few of the bands performing at this event designed to celebrate impressive talent in experimental and folk driven music and genres. The event is free and you don't need to RSVP. Check out the schedule in full below.
The next day (Tuesday, 3/17) the venue plays host to an Octopus Project presented day show featuring Peelander Z, Stardeath & The White Dwarfs, Paper Lions, Experimental Aircraft, Wray, Hidden Ritual, Treasure Mammal, Tele Novella and Woozyhelmet. This show is also free and doesn't require an RSVP.
Tuesday night at 8 PM Spider House is hosting two showcases: one brought to you by Austin artist collective Native Waves outside and a free SXSW kick-off show put together by She Shreds Magazine inside. The Native Waves show features The Rare Birds, idle ants, Coattails, Darkbird, Under The Sun and The Goodhearts, and free with RSVP. The She Shreds show is also free with RSVP, hosting performances from The Ghost Wolves, Megafauna, The Shivas, Bobby Jealousy and Guantanamo Baywatch.
Burger Records imprint Weiner Records takes over the venue all day Wednesday (3/18), starting with a free brunch showcase co-presented by Ladygunn starting at noon with music from Sunflower Bean, Vision and The Parrots. The label then mounts all three of Spider House's stages to put on "Wienermania 2015!" for free, with music from Paul Collins Beat, PUJOL, Gap Dream, The Memories, DTCV and more. Charged.fm presents two days of music in the "Wow! High Five!" showcase on Thursday and Friday (3/19-3/20). Thursday features music from Eyelid Kid, Workout Music, Zettajoule, MUTTS, NGHT HCKLRS, The Elwins, Needs, We Are The Willows, Jamaican Queens, SHMU, What Moon Things and Golden Graves, Friday you can catch Calliope Musicals, Prism Tats, BUHU, GGOOLLDD, The Ghost Wolves, Honduras, Ollie Forrest, The Gents, Sunflower Bean, Cleanup, New Madrid and Perimiter Breach. You need to RSVP and download the Charged.fm app to get into either showcase.
Friday night the Spider House Cafe will be host to the free "Red Cup Nation Party" with music from DJ Trauma. An RSVP will get you into the show.
Finally, Saturday (3/21) sees the return of Panache's "SXSW Rager" on both of the venue's outdoor stages. For a $5 cover you get into the day-long showcase featuring Thee Oh Sees (one of their NINE SXSW shows), plus Meatbodies, La Luz, Jacco Gardner, Hinds, Ultimate Painting, Happyness, Delicate Steve and lots more. On Saturday (3/21) Spider House's indoor stage will host KVRX's "Local Live" showcase with some of Austin's most promising bands, including Blessin', PLXTX, Bukkake Moms, Big Bill and more. That show is free.

Bruise Cruise at NXNE in 2012 (more by David Andrako)
Panache Booking is returning to Austin for a number of SXSW events, kicking off with a Bruise Cruise on Monday (3/11), followed by an unofficial kickoff party at Tillery Park on Tuesday, an acoustic show at Flatstock Stage on Thursday, their official showcase on Friday at Hotel Vegas across four stages, and for those sticking around on Sunday there's a hangover party at Beerland which runs all day (11:30 AM to 2 AM on Monday) with tons of bands and free bloody marys, and an official closing party with Jonathan Toubin's Soul Clap & Dance Off at Emo's Jr.

Last month, SXSW revealed its first round of artists for their 2013 festival, which happens from March 12-17, and now they've revealed a second announcement with way more artists. The new announcement includes Allo Darlin', Angel Haze, Audacity, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Blood Diamonds, Bonde Do Role, Deap Vally, Dessa, Eaux, Sky Ferreira, Flatbush Zombies, Foxygen, Girl Unit, Hundred Waters, Hunters, Major Lazer, Ms Mr, Nguzunguzu, Nu Sensae, Palma Violets, Paws, Peace, PS I Love You, Ratking, Rhye, Savages, Shout Out Louds, The Soft Moon, Thee Oh Sees, Toro y Moi, Ume, Wavves, and many more.

Chelsea Light Moving at Sled Island 2012 (more by Zach Pollack)
With Sonic Youth's future looking cloudy these days, Thurston Moore has turned some of his attention to his new group, Chelsea Light Moving . The band haven't played very many shows to date, but will make their Texas debut at the 35 Denton Music Festival which takes place March 7 - 10 in Denton, TX. Four-day wristbands and "fast track" passes are on sale now.
Chelsea Light Moving is one of a few recent additions to Denton 35's 2013 line-up and other just-added artists include Emeralds, Poolside, MC Antwon, White Lung, The Coathangers, Shannon and the Clams, Delicate Steve, Idiot Glee and Fossil Collective. Full list of announced acts is below.
