Dum Dum Girls @ Sailor Jerry House 3/15/2014
The Sailor Jerry House (aka The Gypsy Lounge) finished its SXSW week with a Saturday afternoon (3/15) of snarly rock n' roll, featuring a set from Dum Dum Girls who then stuck around to get some ink in the free tattoo booth. Also playing that day: SoCal janglers Cosmonauts, Chicago duo White Mystery, punk legend Cheetah Chrome and more.

Dum Dum Girls / The Pains of Being Pure at Heart / Polica
Friday night (3/14) at the Chevrolet Courtyard was a pretty stellar night of indie stars, for what was easily the most packed night at the open air venue during SXSW. The Strokes' Julian Casablancas officially debuted his new band, The Voidz as well as new songs from their forthcoming album. There was also a killer set from the new line-up of The Pains of Being Pure at Heart (who played our Saturday day party); a revealing performance from Dum Dum Girls (one of about 13 they did during SXSW); and the two-drummer attack of Minneapolis' Polica.
The night before (3/13) kicked off with North Carolina duo Sylvan Esso who had just played our day party at Red 7 a couple hours earlier (they were great both times), plus Virginia band Gang of Youths and more.
Chevrolet were also giving away iPod Shuffles at their Courtyard shows, not to mention taxiing people around SXSW for free. Pictures of Wednesday night (3/12) at Chevrolet Courtyard are HERE, and more pics from their Thursday and Friday Courtyard shows below...

Pusha T / Dum Dum Girls
On Wednesday (3/12) at SXSW, SPIN threw their day party at Mohawk/House of Vans with multiple performers across the indoor and outdoor stages. Amanda got there to catch indie pop stalwarts Dum Dum Girls and rapper Pusha T on the outdoor stage. Pictures of both of those sets are in this post. Check out more, with a video of Pusha T playing "Grindin" as Tyer, the Creator (who got into all kinds of trouble at SXSW) raps along from the audience, below...

RUN DMC / Black Lips with Val Kilmer /Against Me!
The best part about Austin's annual good time known as Fun Fun Fun Fest is diversity. While punk and metal are driving the tattoo-sleeved set nuts on the Black Stage (pics HERE and HERE), there is an entirely different festival going on at some of the other stages - legendary MCs to movie star cameros, punk legends to some of the best indie bands on the come-up. .
In this post are another set of pics from day one, this time from photographer Glen Brown, including shots of Black Lips with Val Kilmer and Rooney Mara (part of a Terrence Malick movie shoot, more HERE), Against Me!, and Run DMC, plus X, Not In The Face, Dum Dum Girls, Cursive, Diamond Rings, Sharon Van Etten, more Napalm Death, more Converge, Astronautilus, Bob Mould, and Tomahawk.

Scenes from Fun Fun Fun Lucky Lady Bingo via Adi Anand's Instagrams 7/11/2012
On 7/11 (Happy Slurpee Day!) Fun Fun Fun held their bingo-to-reveal-the-artists event, and while we already knew about Run DMC reuniting and some others, there were quite a few surprises in the massive list of musical acts and comedians announced (Public Image Ltd., Youth of Today, De La Soul, X, Bob Mould, Saul Williams, and Hannibal Burress to name a few).
The headliners (in addition to the aforementioned Run DMC reunion) are an electic-but-looked-forward-to group: Santigold, Refused, and for Comedy David Cross.
Three-day and PIP passes go on sale on Thursday at 10AM CST and will no doubt move fast. Get them here once the clock passes 9:59...
