KEN Mode at 285 Kent, June 2013 (more by Caroline Harrison)
KEN Mode

As mentioned on BV, Noise-metal trio KEN Mode have added more dates for this summer, snagging alternating support from from Inter Arma and Rosetta along the way. The dates include three stops in Texas, including Austin at Mohawk on July 25 with Inter Arma & Pushmen (ticketing details are on the way).

Additionally, KEN Mode and Inter Arma play San Antonio at Limelight on July 26, and Houston at Mangos on July 27, neither of which seem to have advance tickets. Invisible Oranges and Brooklyn Vegan are proud sponsors of the tour, details of which are available at InvisibleOranges.

Pallbearer

After a week of SXSW shows, the first annual Invisible Oranges SXSW showcase (in partnership with BrooklynVegan) at The North Door on Saturday night, March 16th was a good comedown, mixing the brutal with introspective in an inviting venue. Featuring a headlining set from melodic doom favorites Pallbearer (who also played our day party earlier that week at old Emo's), a mesmerizing performance from John Baizley (of Baroness) with surprise guests Bruce Lamont and Mel from Royal Thunder, punk-y black metal from Mutilation Rites, nihilism and powerviolence from Full of Hell, metallic noise-core from KEN Mode (who filled in for an ailing Pinkish Black), and grunting hardcore beatdowns from Homewrecker, it was a great night of heavy music. Invisible Oranges/BrooklynVegan would like to send a personal thank you to all of the bands and fans who attended/streamed the show live. Iif you missed it, look for video from the show to surface very soon!

Until next year!

Pallbearer @ ND Studios
Show No Mercy party on 3/14

Show No Mercy, the metal-focused Pitchfork column helmed by Brandon Stosuy, hosted a show at ND Studios on March 14th during SXSW with a killer lineup of Pallbearer, The Atlas Moth, Black Tusk, Deafheaven, KEN Mode, Pilgrim, and Mutilation Rites. Unfortunately due to illness, Rwake was (again) forced to cancel their headlining slot, leaving the recently Best New Music'd Pallbearer to fill their considerable shoes. Pictures from the show are in this post.

Of the seven bands that performed at the Show No Mercy party, five would go on to play BrooklynVegan SXSW parties at either Scoot Inn or at Lovejoys.

Check out more pictures from the Show No Mercy show, below.
