Chelsea Light Moving at Sled Island 2012 (more by Zach Pollack)
Chelsea Light Moving

With Sonic Youth's future looking cloudy these days, Thurston Moore has turned some of his attention to his new group, Chelsea Light Moving . The band haven't played very many shows to date, but will make their Texas debut at the 35 Denton Music Festival which takes place March 7 - 10 in Denton, TX.  Four-day wristbands and "fast track" passes are on sale now.

Chelsea Light Moving is one of a few recent additions to Denton 35's 2013 line-up and other just-added artists include Emeralds, Poolside, MC Antwon, White Lung, The Coathangers, Shannon and the Clams, Delicate Steve, Idiot Glee and Fossil Collective. Full list of announced acts is below.

Obits in Brooklyn in 2011 (more by Erik Erikson)

Obits will be playing a few US shows this August before heading over to Europe at the end of the month. The first of those shows happens in Austin with local faves Mind Spiders Flesh Lights. James Arthur's Manhunt is also on the bill. Tickets for the show are on sale now.

Obits released a new single on Sub Pop this past May which featured a cover of Mink Deville's "Let Me Dream If I Want To" on the a-side and a cover of The Kids' "The City is Dead" on the b-side. Videos of the band playing those two songs along with a list of all dates below...

Black Lips at Coachella (more by David Andrako)
Black Lips

Austin Psych Fest is finally here and like any festival with a large number of bands, it's not without its casualties:

Unfortunately the Intelligence had to cancel their tour, and will no longer be playing the festival. They will have a new album out in 2012, look out for it!

Due to a situation out of the band and festival's control, ... And You Will Know Us By The Trail of The Dead will no longer be able to perform their set at Austin Psych Fest. Our best wishes to the Trail of The Dead and hopefully we'll have them back for 2013, stay tuned...

While those cancellations are a bummer, the festival has since added names like Thee Oh Sees, Meat Puppets, and many more to their venerable roster. Check out the full schedule below, and order your tickets or weekend passes.

Austin Psych Fest officially kicks off on Friday (4/27) but had its first event, a screening, on Monday (4/23) and meanwhile has been hosting some pre-parties which continue tonight (4/26) with Indian Jewelry, Christian Bland and The Revelators, The Wolf, Slow Motion Rider, Cerise, Chief Nowhere, and Rishi at Red 7. Entry is free with your ASF week pass or $15 at the door.

Full schedule of Austin Psych Fest events is below.
