Fun Fun Fun Fest 2012 (more by Glen Brown)
Fun Fun Fun Fest

Sorry for the late post of this. Graham actually did send us this last year, but we forgot to post it!

We posted many year-end lists from artists and other people in the music world as 2012 came to a close (browse our "Best of 2012" tag) and this one comes from Fun Fun Fun Fest/Transmission Events booker Graham Williams who gave us a list of the "best stuff of 2012." A few albums make the list, as do some live shows in Austin and a certain reunited group that Graham booked at this year's FFF Fest.

You can check out the full list below...

The best part about Austin's annual good time known as Fun Fun Fun Fest is diversity. While punk and metal are driving the tattoo-sleeved set nuts on the Black Stage (pics HERE and HERE), there is an entirely different festival going on at some of the other stages - legendary MCs to movie star cameros, punk legends to some of the best indie bands on the come-up. .

In this post are another set of pics from day one, this time from photographer Glen Brown, including shots of Black Lips with Val Kilmer and Rooney Mara (part of a Terrence Malick movie shoot, more HERE), Against Me!, and Run DMC, plus X, Not In The Face, Dum Dum Girls, Cursive, Diamond Rings, Sharon Van Etten, more Napalm Death, more Converge, Astronautilus, Bob Mould, and Tomahawk.

More below...

FunFunFun Fest 2012 Bingo!

While we've had some teasers in the last few weeks - Wednesday night was the night for BINGO - and the full Fun Fun Fun Fest reveal.

On 7/11 (Happy Slurpee Day!) Fun Fun Fun held their bingo-to-reveal-the-artists event, and while we already knew about Run DMC reuniting and some others, there were quite a few surprises in the massive list of musical acts and comedians announced (Public Image Ltd., Youth of Today, De La Soul, X, Bob Mould, Saul Williams, and Hannibal Burress to name a few).

The headliners (in addition to the aforementioned Run DMC reunion) are an electic-but-looked-forward-to group: Santigold, Refused, and for Comedy David Cross.

Three-day and PIP passes go on sale on Thursday at 10AM CST and will no doubt move fast. Get them here once the clock passes 9:59...

See the full line-up below.

Run DMC

As announced on BrooklynVegan, hip Hop legends Run DMC will play this year's Fun Fun Fun Fest (Nov 2 -4), the crew's first show since the death of DJ Jam Master Jay in 2002.

You know some other artists playing the fest this year too, but the full lineup will be announced Thursday (7/12), the same day weekend 3-day passes go on sale. A few PIP Passes are still available now. A portion of the proceeds from the ticket will also go towards Jam Master Jay's JMJ Foundation for Music "which is dedicated to providing access to the arts, regardless of socio-economic status, for children and young adults." Stay tuned for more.
