Sonos made their prescence known at SXSW this year with their own venue called "Sonos Studio", near Moonshine at 606 East 3rd Street (Red River and 3rd). The space hosted band performances, DJ sets, and lots of Sonos technology installations that guests could try out and play with. To quote the brand's own recap of the event:
deadmau5 and Kat Von D built their own functional speakers out of every day materials and played video games with fans while deadmau5 played his favorite music throughout the venue, Passion Pit, Chad Hugo, RDGLDGRN, The 1975, A-Trak, Skream, Jackmaster and Chrome Sparks performed nightly DJ sets, Jared Leto stopped by to experience the Studio, Rob Zombie held an after party for his new film The Lords of Salem, KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic broadcasted live each morning, Flula Borg hosted a luncheon, and there were top-notch performances by Erykah Badu, Surfer Blood, The Robert Glasper Experiment, Chelsea Light Moving ft. Thurston Moore, He's My Brother She's My Sister, Allah-Lahs, Cloud Nothings, French Horn Rebellion Party Ensemble, Tristen, Thomas Dybdahl, Robert DeLong, Chali 2na, Poolside, Sir Sly, Kitten, Yellow Red Sparks, WILDCAT! Alt-J / Frightened Rabbit / Guards @ The Belmont, 3/14/2013
The final day for "Warner Sound captured by Nikon" at The Belmont happened on Thursday (3/14) with a pretty stacked line-up. We posted pictures on BV of Flaming Lips' headlining set where they did their first-ever front-to-back performance of 2002's Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. Even without them on the bill, The Belmont would've been a tough ticket, with sets from Alt-J, Frightened Rabbit, The Joy Formidable, Surfer Blood, Guards and others. More pics from Thursday's show are below.

Field Report at BV-SXSW 2012 (more by Amanda Hatfield)
One business leader is prioritizing his mental health over a surging career. On a lighter note for Pandora, they'll be in Austin this week for SXSW and have a number of day and night shows from Tuesday (3/12) through Friday (3/15) at Antone's. Artists playing their shows include Talib Kweli, Angel Haze, Eagles of Death Metal, Richard Thompson Electric Trio, The Gaslamp Killer, Dead Prez, Guards, Surfer Blood, Field Report, Akron/Family, Anamanaguchi, Dawes, and more. You can browse their entire lineup and schedule at Pandora.com/SXSW.
Joseph Kennedy, CEO of Pandora, an Internet radio site, announced Thursday that he's stepping down, even as the company posted a 54 percent jump in revenue. It may seem odd for a successful executive to jump ship at the height of his company's success, but in explaining his decision, Kennedy said he had something more important to attend to.
"As I approach the start of my tenth year, my head is telling me it is time to get to a recharging station sooner rather than later," Kennedy said in an earnings call with analysts, according to USA Today.
It may come as no surprise that Kennedy needs a break. He helped Pandora navigate a series of obstacles since becoming a public company in 2011, including lagging advertisement revenue and issues with royalty costs, according to the Wall Street Journal. What's more surprising is that he actually decided to take that break. [Huffington Post]

On 7/11 (Happy Slurpee Day!) Fun Fun Fun held their bingo-to-reveal-the-artists event, and while we already knew about Run DMC reuniting and some others, there were quite a few surprises in the massive list of musical acts and comedians announced (Public Image Ltd., Youth of Today, De La Soul, X, Bob Mould, Saul Williams, and Hannibal Burress to name a few).
The headliners (in addition to the aforementioned Run DMC reunion) are an electic-but-looked-forward-to group: Santigold, Refused, and for Comedy David Cross.
Three-day and PIP passes go on sale on Thursday at 10AM CST and will no doubt move fast. Get them here once the clock passes 9:59...
