We are big fans of KLRU, and they're taking a new approach to fund raising that makes it quite a bit more exciting than getting a canvas tote bag.
It's called The Big Deal and it is. Buy a $25 raffle ticket, get a chance to win BIG. The raffle winner will get festival passes (ACL Fest, Fun Fun Fun Fest, SXSW, Austin Film Festival, Moontower Comedy and more), tickets, gift certificates, and other items valued at close to $8000. Boom.
If you're well-heeled and want to better your odds, you can get an additional raffle ticket for another $25 and each one gets another chance in the drawing. All that AND you're supporting KLRU. Win/Win. Raffle tickets can be purchased now through January 4, 2013. Drawing to be held February 1. One lucky winner (and their friends) is going to be a really Big Deal on February 2.
See the full list of items in the prize package below.

ACL TV announced two new tapings for Season 38 set for the first week of November:
We're pleased to announce two more tapings for Season 38 with a veteran and a rising star: Bob Mould on November 1 and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes on November 5.
For fans of alternative rock, Bob Mould scarcely needs any introduction. The singer/songwriter/guitarist rewrote the rules of punk rock in the 80s with his band Husker Du and defined the sound of melodic alt.rock with his 90s power trio Sugar. He's also released a line of critically lauded solo albums that have ranged in sound from acoustic reverie to electronic dance music and everything in between. Following his highly regarded memoir See a Little Light: The Trail of Rage and Melody and a successful tour performing the classic Sugar album Copper Blue in its entirety, Mould has release his acclaimed new LP Silver Age, a high-volume reminder of Mould's mastery of melody, power and passion. We're thrilled to bring this pioneering rocker to the ACL stage.
Check out videos of all three below.

Anthony Bourdain & Ume @ Hotel Vegan - SXSW 2012 (more by Tim Griffin)
Remember how controversial celebrity chef, author and TV personality Anthony Bourdain was seen all over Austin during SXSW this year including at our own Hotel Vegan where he was checking out Austin band Ume before later going to dinner with them? Well, that Austin/SXSW episode of "No Reservations" that he was filming at the time, will air on the Travel Channel on September 3, 2012. Check out two (very non-vegan) clips from the show, starring Ume and Sleigh Bells (who return to Austin on a tour this October), below...

Radiohead photo by Sebastian Edge
No specific dates have been set yet, but today Austin City Limits TV announced four confirmed tapings as part of their 38th season, including Radiohead who play the Frank Erwin center on March 7th (and who played September 28th and 29th of this year in NYC). The full list is below.
For those on a budget - good to know ACL TV Tapings are free - with tickets being given away just prior to the shows.
We've covered a few of the amazing tapings so far this year (thanks to the tireless efforts of @griffinshot) - Arcade Fire, Fleet Foxes, and Wilco - and are looking forward to see what else ACL TV has in store for 2012.
