Australian band Mere Women release video for dark, brooding new single, playing Cake Shop

Sydney, Australia’s Mere Women make dark, dissonant rock with a strong rhythmic element to their sound and the plaintive wails of vocalist Amy Wilson. (It’s a bit like Warpaint, or early Throwing Muses, if that means anything to you.) You can check out their most recent album, 2014’s Your Town, below. The band have a new split 7″ with Melbourne band Gold Class and we’ve got the premiere of the video for Mere Woman’s contribution, “Numb.” Directed by Matthew Douglas Taylor, its dark intense imagery fits the song’s vibe well. Watch that below.

Mere Women will be in NYC next week, playing Cake Shop on Thursday, April 28 with Seattle band Tangerine (whose new EP you can check out below too). Tickets for that show are on sale now.
