Australia's Chook Race releasing 'Around the House' on Trouble in Mind (listen), touring U.S. around Gonerfest

Formed at the start of the decade Melbourne, Australia’s Chook Race traffic in the jangly indie rock sounds of classic Flying Nun or The Go-Betweens, not afraid to throw some chirpy “bah-bah-bahs” into their choruses. The group’s new album, Around the House, will be released on September 2 via Trouble in Mind in the U.S. and Tenth Court in AU/NZ. You can check out two songs from the album — the video for “Hard to Clean” and a stream of “Sometimes” — below.

The band are visiting the U.S. this fall, playing shows on either side of their appearance at Gonerfest VIII. They’ve got two dates NYC: September 24 at Cake Shop (tickets) and September 25 at Union Pool (tickets TBA).
