AVAIL played their first NYC show in 12 years w/ Angel Du$t (pics, videos, setlist)

Richmond punk greats AVAIL finally returned and played their first show in 12 years in their hometown back in July, and they’ve kept the don’t-call-it-a-reunion going with more shows, including Brooklyn’s Warsaw on Saturday (9/7). AVAIL’s Over the James lineup is back for these shows, and like at the Richmond shows, they played almost all of that album, plus other faves like “Simple Song,” “Order,” “Fix,” “Pinned Up,” “Clone,” and more. They sounded as good as they did back in the day, and they were insane from the get-go, jumping into the crowd, flying around on stage, etc, and the crowd gave all the same energy right back to them.

Direct support at the Brooklyn show (and all Northeast dates) came from Angel Du$t, who took their punk sound in a jangle pop direction on this year’s great Pretty Buff, and Fuck It… I Quit! opened the show. Pictures are in the gallery above. AVAIL’s setlist and some videos below.

Both AVAIL and Angel Du$t are playing Chicago’s Riot Fest this weekend, and AVAIL also play a Riot Fest aftershow on Sunday. AVAIL frontman Tim Barry also recently announced a new solo album.
