Avalanches working on LP#3, coming "definitely soon"

It took The Avalanches over 15 years to make Wildflower, the followup to their acclaimed, 2000 debut LP. The group say the next one could hit next year. Stopping by Sydney, Australia’s independent radio station FBi, the group’s Robbie Chater said, “In the few weeks since we’ve been home from the States, me and Tony have just been writing. It’s flowing so quickly. I think getting Wildflower out of the way and following up Since I Left You feels like a weight’s been lifted. The [new] music is really light, it’s some of the best stuff we’ve done.”

As to a specific time table, Chater added, “We’ve got eight songs we’re playing to the label on Monday. Who knows when [they’ll be out]? Next year? It’s definitely soon.”

While we wait (and digest that with a grain of salt), The Avalanches will be on tour in North American this summer, and will be in NYC next weekend to play Sunday of Governors Ball (and a sold-out GovBall After Dark show at Brooklyn Bowl before that).
