Avid Dancer releasing new EP, touring with Cold War Kids, playing CMJ (dates, streams)

Avid Dancer

LA resident Jacob Summers makes music under the moniker Avid Dancer, with a sound that’s got one foot in a David Lynch movie and the other on tour with Lou Reed in 1973. (Both require a leather jacket.) Avid Dancer releases his new EP, I Want To See You Dance, and we’ve got the premiere of its closing track, an acoustic demo of “Medication,” which you can stream, along with the rockin’ title cut and a few other songs, below. The EP is out October 21 via Grand Jury.

Avid Dancer will be on the East Coast next week for a few shows, including a couple in NYC during CMJ. Summers will play an 8 PM solo set at Rockwood Music Hall on October 23, and then dash around the corner to Mercury Lounge for a full-band 11 PM Avid Dancer set at Mercury Lounge which also features Heat, Trixie Whitley, Cheerleader, Bully and Bee Caves. Tickets for Mercury Lounge are on sale now, or you can use your CMJ badge if you have one.
