Bang on a Can All-Stars played 2017 Ecstatic Music Fest kickoff show (pics)

The Ecstatic Music Festival kicked off it’s 2017 season, as usual, with Bang on a Can All-Stars‘ Commissioning Fund Concert. The show also marks Bang on a Can’s 30th anniversary and the first edition of WNYC’s “New Sounds Live” of the year. Bang on A Can All-Stars performed new works by Nico Muhly, Anna Thorvaldsdottir and Juan Felipe Waller, an excerpt from Michael Gordon’s chamber opera Van Gogh, music by Philip Glass and more. ~ECSTATIC MUSIC FESTIVAL: BANG ON A CAN ALL-STARS PEOPLE’S COMMISSIONING FUND CONCERT~

Bang on A Can All-Stars are: Ashley Bathgate, Robert Black, Vicky Chow, David Cossin, Derek Johnson, Ken Thomson and Jody Elff, sound engineer. Their special guests were Eliza Bagg (Pavo Pavo) and Charles Yan, both on violin and voice.
Eliza and Charles played on Michael Gordon’s piece and Eliza sang Philip Glass’ ‘Bed’.
