Bars of Gold Shelters

Bars of Gold (mem Bear vs Shark) announce new album, share "Sometimes"

Post-hardcore/punk greats Bear vs Shark reunited back in 2016 for a full tour, and played just a few shows in 2017 and last year, and now singer Marc Paffi and drummer Brandon Moss are turning their attention back to their newer band Bars of Gold, who now also count Bear vs Shark guitarist John Gaviglio as a member. Bars of Gold have a new album called SHELTERS due out April 12 via Equal Vision (pre-order). The band co-produced it with Chris Koltay (who’s worked with Jack White, Deerhunter, Kurt Vile, and more), and the first single is “Sometimes.” If you wish that Bear vs Shark reunion resulted in new music, don’t sleep on this. “Sometimes” is a bit more atmospheric than Bear vs Shark, but it’s cut from a very similar cloth and it’s easy to picture BvS having gone in this direction themselves, especially after the more experimental Terrorhawk. Check it out and watch its video (directed by Tony Wolski / FORMER CO) below (via Stereogum).

Equal Vision also repressed Bars of Gold’s first two albums, 2010’s Of Gold and 2013’s Wheels, and those will be available on March 13 (pre-order).
