Bat For Lashes announces ‘The Bride’ & church shows, shares new track
Bat For Lashes recently released a new single called “I Do” and teased the date July 1. Now she revealed that that’s the day her new album, The Bride, comes out via Parlophone/Warner Bros. According to a press release:
The Bride follows the story of a woman whose fiancé has been killed in a crash on the way to the church for their wedding. The Bride flees the scene to take the honeymoon trip alone, resulting in a dark meditation on love, loss, grief, and celebration. [It was] written as the soundtrack for a feature length film in mind.
The album also includes “In God’s House,” an instantly-addictive dose of dark pop that just came out today. Check out the video below.
Not only was the album written with a future film in mind, but it was inspired by I Do, the short film that main Bat For Lashes member Natasha Khan is debuting at the Tribeca Film Festival. The album was “conceived of and produced by” Natasha, with help from Simone Felice, Dan Carey, Head and Ben Christophers.
Bat For Lashes is also playing a few shows in churches, which “will be the exclusive, first opportunity to hear The Bride performed in full before it’s released. As such, The Bride invites all attendees of these special church shows to wear wedding/formal attire for the occasion. A portion of proceeds from these shows will benefit the David Lynch Foundation.”
