Bat for Lashes shares “Joe’s Dream” from ‘The Bride’
Following some real-life drama, Natasha Khan — better known as Bat for Lashes — premiered most of her forthcoming album The Bride (out July 1) at the Music Hall of Williamsburg last week, including “Joe’s Dream” which has just been released as the new single.
The song continues the album’s narrative, which Khan said “follows the story of a woman whose fiancé has been killed in a crash on the way to the church for their wedding.” In it, the bride’s lover, Joe, details a prescient omen of his own death. Over an electric piano riff, Khan describes Joe’s epic vision of his demise while she grapples with what it means, while a her backing vocals act as a chorus singing, “don’t say goodbye” over and over.
