Baxter Dury gets in the ring for "Prince of Tears" video (watch)

Baxter Dury has made a video for the title track of his great new album, Prince of Tears. While the character in the song has been beaten down by life, in the video Baxter’s beaten to a pulp in a boxing ring. “Baxter trained for 2 weeks to prepare for the video,” says director Roger Sargent (The Libertines, Suede). “Though some trickery is involved, 80 percent of the punches are real – and hurt! We wanted that realism to be the spine of the shoot, so that Baxters acting would be all the more real. It still gets me emotionally every time I watch!” Baster simply says it’s “a dream sequence about fighting something that you love that will destroy you.” The pugilistic setting — Baxter really does look like he’s been through the ringer — matches surprisingly well with the tender sentiment and melancholic strings of the song. While he still hasn’t made any plans for North America, Baxter has expanded his European tour into 2018 (most of which is in France where he is most popular). All tour dates are listed below.
