BBC's Sound of 2019 longlist

BBC has revealed their longlist for the Sound of 2019, a list of “2019’s hottest new artists” voted on by “136 critics, broadcasters and DJs, including former nominees Ellie Goulding and Stormzy.” The nominees include flamenco-pop singer Rosalía whose 2018 album El Mal Querer has been met by tons of acclaim (and has been landing on lots of year-end lists). She’s the first Spanish-language artist ever nominated in the the 17 years of BBC Sound Of. Other nominees are Ella Mai whose “Boo’d Up” was one of the biggest songs of 2018, UK rappers Octavian, Slowthai and Flohio, alt-pop artist King Princess, and more. See the full list below.

The top five will be revealed with one artist a day starting January 7. The winner will be revealed January 11. The Sound of 2018 winner was Sigrid.
