Beach Goons releasing 'hoodratscumbags' (stream "Hunny Bunnies")

San Diego’s Beach Goons are releasing their new album hoodratscumbags on August 24 via GRNDVW Recordings (pre-order digital or physical), and as you may expect from a band name like Beach Goons, these ten new songs are of the garage punk/surf punk variety. But the band also says there’s a little cumbia influence in there, and one song (“Chunti”) is sung entirely in Spanish. “We’re from a Mexican community, we’re all Mexicans, and we really love showing it,” says the band’s frontman and sole constant member Pablo Cervantez. “[Logan Heights] is the heart of Mexican culture, and the heart of Chicano culture, and I really want to emphasize this was our upbringing and this is who we are.”

We’re premiering the song “Hunny Bunnies,” which Pablo says was “one of the first songs we recorded and worked on.” “The song is about the lack of communication between a relationship; whether it be romantic, platonic, or even a family member. It’s all up for interpretation really and that’s how I’d like for it to be,” he adds. This one’s very much in the surfy garage punk realm, and it’s super catchy. Listen below.

Beach Goons are also touring and playing a couple cool festivals: The Growlers’ Beach Goth in LA in August and Riot Fest in Chicago in September. All dates are listed below.
