Beach Slang covering The Replacements' 'Pleased to Meet Me' in full in NYC
Beach Slang, who are not broken up, have no secrets about their love for The Replacements, who they cover at most of their shows. They’re now taking those covers a step further, by playing The Replacements’ entire 1987 album Pleased to Meet Me in full at Knitting Factory Brooklyn on July 12.
The show is co-presented by the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund and it’s called “RECOVERED: A Night of Sweet Relief.” All bands on the bill will be covering full albums — the openers are The Can’t Tells (playing Pixies’ Doolittle) and Gambles (playing PJ Harvey’s Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea) — a portion of the proceeds will benefit Sweet Relief. Tickets go on sale Friday (6/3) at noon.
Beach Slang are at Primavera right now, and they have plenty of other upcoming tour dates including the Bouncing Souls’ Stoked for the Summer show in Asbury Park with Cayetana, and The Surf Lodge in Montauk. All dates are listed below.
