Beastie Boys audiobook features Nas, Kim Gordon, Jarvis Cocker, Jon Stewart, lots more
The Beastie Boys Book is out next week and is not your typical memoir, with a comic book, a Roy Choy cookbook, maps, mixtape playlists and guest contributors (Amy Poehler, Spike Jonze, Wes Anderson, more). Likewise the audiobook version is something special too, with an incredible list of narrators in addition to Ad Rock and Mike D, including Nas, Steve Buscemi, Kim Gordon, Jarvis Cocker, Snoop Dogg, Will Ferrell, Rosie Perez, Elvis Costello, Chuck D, Jon Stewart, NY1’s Pat Kiernan, Jeff Tweedy, Maya Rudolph, Bette Midler, Jon Stewart, Ben Stiller and more. Check out the full list of voice contributors to the Beastie Boys Book audiobook, via Pitchfork, below.
If you can’t wait till next week, Vulture published an excerpt on the making of Paul’s Boutique, and The New York Post highlighted some interesting facts gleaned from the book, like they still have the giant penis that was a prop on their License to Ill Tour. “Seemed funny at the time … [But] you gotta really think before you say or do some dumb shit,” Horovitz writes. “Think about the people you care about most. Will they be embarrassed for you, and of you? Yes…And you’ll end up paying thirty years’ worth of storage locker fees in New Jersey for a 5-foot-by-5-foot dick in a box.”
