Becca Mancari talks albums that changed her life, adds dates with Joseph

Becca Mancari

Becca Mancari, who released her excellent debut album Good Woman in 2017, talked to TIDAL about five albums that her changed her life. One that she says is “one of the first records that changed everything for me” is mewithoutYou‘s underrated 2004 classic Catch For Us The Foxes, which Becca said this about:

I grew up in a very religious home. My parents went to a college that was basically part of a ‘cult.’ Thus, I was not allowed to listen to much of mainstream music, but in high school I started to sneak off to shows. When I first heard of mewithoutyou, I listened to their record Catch for us the Foxes. It was everything to me. Aaron Weiss’ voice destroyed me. It spoke to all of the lost feelings you have when you’re young… the music, the arrangement, the importance… those things will never be lost on me. When I listen back to the record now, it still speaks to me.

She also listed Coldplay‘s Parachutes, Bob Dylan‘s Time Out of Mind, and two albums from last year: Big Thief‘s Capacity and Kendrick Lamar‘s DAMN. You can read what Becca had to say about each pick HERE.

Becca is on tour now with her band Bermuda Triangle (where she is joined by Jesse Lafser and Alabama Shakes frontwoman Brittany Howard), and she has shows of her own coming up after that, including a newly-added run with folk-pop trio Joseph.

In addition to Becca’s NYC show on May 2 at Bowery Ballroom with The Weeks (tickets), she’ll play NYC’s City Winery on April 25 with Joseph. Tickets for that show will be on sale soon. Updated dates are listed below.
