Beck brought out Spoon’s Britt Daniel and Jenny Lewis at MSG show (video, setlist)
Beck played Madison Square Garden on Thursday night (7/19) and he hit the stage running with Odelay classics “Devils Haircut” and “The New Pollution” right off the bat. The whole show was filled with fan faves, and the night was made extra special when Beck brought out Spoon’s Britt Daniel to sing on Colors cut “Dear Life” and then they did Spoon’s “I Turn My Camera On.” The guests kept coming as right after that, he brought out opener Jenny Lewis (a last minute sub for Glass Animals) to perform One Foot in the Grave‘s “Girl Dreams” which they dedicated to Bill Murray and, according to Setlist.fm, is the first time he’s done it since 2003. Video of “I Turn My Camera On” and “Girl Dreams” is below.
Beck paid tribute to NYC during his encore of “Where It’s At” which turned into a medley featuring Chic’s “Good Times,” Television’s “Marquee Moon,” and Velvet Underground’s “I’m Waiting for the Man,” Talking Heads’ “Once in a Lifetime” and more, with a some vocal help from his band’s Roger Manning and Jason Falkner (both of whom were in Jellyfish) as well as Jenny Lewis and her band. You can watch that below as well.
