Bedouine announces new album ‘Bird Songs of a Killjoy,’ shares “Bird”
Bedouine recently released the new single “When You’re Gone,” and now she has finally announced a followup to her great 2017 self-titled debut. It’s called Bird Songs Of A Killjoy, and she made it with Gus Seyffert who also produced her debut (and has worked with Roger Waters, Norah Jones, Beck, and many others). The album also features contributions from Joey Waronker (Atoms For Peace, Ultraísta), Smokey Hormel, and Lucius.
Bird Songs Of A Killjoy features “When You’re Gone” as well as new single “Bird,” which is a very nice dose of Bedouine’s usual indie-folk with some lush string arrangements. It comes with a video of Bedouine walking around on a foggy day, and you can check that out below. The new album comes out May 31 via Spacebomb. Talking about “Bird,” Bedouine said:
“Bird” is about loving someone so much that you’re willing to loosen your grip on them. It was written as a love letter with the intent of delivering it. It’s one of my favorite memories regarding the power of song. I had so much to communicate and this was the only way I was able to get it all down. I drafted it on my recorder and emailed it that evening. The next morning there was a freshly written song in response to mine in my inbox. I was totally astonished by this perfect exchange. It seemed to prove that sometimes when you’re willing to let something go is when you’re given it entirely.
As mentioned, Bedouine also has upcoming tour dates including a Brooklyn show on June 6 at Rough Trade (tickets). All dates are listed below.
