Belly

Belly share "Shiny One," detail first album in 23 years 'DOVE'

One day after a new Breeders song came out, the first single off Belly‘s highly anticipated first album in 23 years is now here. It’s called “Shiny One” and it’s a bit more polished than some of Belly’s classic ’90s material, but a very nice dose of atmospheric alternative rock nonetheless. Belly have also revealed more details on the album, which is called DOVE and due out May 4 (pre-order). Tanya Donelly, Tom Gorman, Chris Gorman, and Gail Greenwood recorded it with help from longtime friend Paul Q. Kolderie (who also worked with Throwing Muses).

Of the new single, Tanya said, “I have a lot of affection for ‘Shiny One.’ It was the first completely collaborative song we’ve ever done—Gail wrote the riff and the chorus, Tom and I wrote the verse and bridge, Chris’s parts shaped the direction and vibe. When I hear it, I hear all four of us equally.” Listen and check out the tracklist below. That’s the album artwork above.

As mentioned, Belly are also touring, including Brooklyn shows at Music Hall of Williamsburg on August 25 and 26 (tickets). The Boston band is also playing hometown festival Boston Calling (but any other festival lineup with a “Belly” this year is the rapper). All dates are listed below.
