“Thanks to all who came to terminal 5 tonight! We love you NY!” – Best Coast
Best Coast at Terminal 5 – 7/17/12
“There’s something about the summer,” Bethany Cosentino sang onstage at Manhattan’s cavernous Terminal 5 last night, dressed for a far more dour season in a black tank top and black pants… against a black backdrop depicting the cover of Best Coast’s new album, The Only Place. But if the drenching humidity wasn’t nudging her into a sunny spirit, the arena-level screeches from the sold-out crowd were putting her in a giddy New York state of mind. “This is so awesome, there are so many of you!” she exclaimed before the SPIN cover stars’ encore performance of Fleetwood Mac’s “Storms.” “Not to get all cheesy, but I remember our first ever show in New York was me and Bobb at the Cake Shop with a drum machine.” [SPIN]
Best Coast brought their tour with Those Darlins to NYC last night (7/17) for a show at Terminal 5 with DIIV. Like they’ve been doing on the rest of the tour, Best Coast played material off both full lengths. You can watch videos of the band playing “Boyfriend,” “Crazy For You,” and “Up All NIght” at last night’s show below.
For DIIV, the Terminal 5 show was one of many local shows the Brooklyn band has been playing this summer. Their next scheduled show (at the moment) is a free River Rocks show with Grimes and Wild Nothing on August 9 at Pier 84.
