The Best Record Stores in the United States

Best U.S. Record Stores coffee table book released

With the vinyl resurgence in full bloom and the holiday season upon us, the remaining brick and mortar record stores are hopefully feeling optimistic. Vinyl Me, Please may be an online-only retailer, but like any music fans old enough to remember when there wasn’t an internet, they share in the love for a great record store. Beginning in 2017 they embarked on a mission to catalog the best record store in each state. Two years later, they’ve put together this coffee table book, The 50 Best Record Stores In The United States, to detail their findings and chronicle the state of in-person record shopping across the country. Chicago DJ Mark Farina wrote the forward, and Clay Hickson and Elise Rigollet did the illustration and design that accompanies an essay on each store chosen. Some photos of the book are in the gallery above, and you can order a copy HERE.

Speaking of great holiday gifts for the devoted crate-digger in your life, Vinyl Me, Please are also offering a Gift Membership which includes one LP, pressed exclusively for them in deluxe packaging with unique extras, each month, as well as access to exclusive titles in their online store. The gift recipient gets to choose between three “tracks,” Essentials, Classics, or Rap & Hip-Hop, depending on their taste in music, and they also have the option to swap out each month’s record for another of their choosing. There are three, six, and twelve-month membership options, and you can get more info, and sign up, here.

Support a small business this holiday season, whether online or at a store, and thank you to Vinyl Me, Please (and all of you) for always supporting small business BrooklynVegan!
