Bettye LaVette is celebrating the 50th anniversary of her music career this year with a new album, Thankful N’ Thoughtful, due out Septemnber 25 via Anti-, and an autobiography co-written with David Ritz (whose written biographies of Ray Charles, Smokey Robinson, Aretha Franklin, and others) titled A Woman Like Me, due out September 27 via Blue Rider Press/Penguin. Thankful N’ Thoughtful was produced by Craig Street and features tracks written and/or performed by The Black Keys, Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Patty Griffin, Gnarls Barkley, The Pogues, Savoy Brown, Sly Stone, and others. The tracklist, an album trailer, and a lyric video of her take on The Black Keys’ “I’m Not the One” are below.

Bettye will support the album with a tour beginning in October, but before that kicks off, she’ll preview some of the new material in NYC at Highline Ballroom on September 28 and will do a Q&A and book signing one day earlier (9/27) at Barnes & Noble in Union Square. Tickets for the Highline show are on sale now.
